
Asthma WA encourages sporting clubs to become Activ8ed for Asthma. We recognise sports clubs that have Activ8ed for Asthma with an ongoing loyalty program and a free Asthma Action Kit for emergencies.

Essential Criteria for Sports Clubs
Asthma Policy
Your club has a routinely reviewed policy or procedure for the management of asthma.
Training
80% of your coaches and trainers (paid/unpaid) have completed the Activ8 for Asthma ‘Managing Asthma in Sport’ coaching course online or in-person.
Asthma Action Kit
Your club has access to an Asthma Action Kit, containing:
- Reliever Medication (e.g. Ventolin, Asmol)
- Two spacers (not previously used)
- Face mask if working with children under 5
- Asthma First Aid instructions
- Reliever Use Log
Asthma Action Kits are accessible to all staff and include in-date medication.
Asthma Action Plans
Written Asthma Action Plans are collected for each child with asthma and kept in a central location.
Asthma Information
Asthma First Aid incidents are recorded, reviewed and reported to the child’s parents/carers as a matter of priority.
Self-Management
Where appropriate, children with asthma are encouraged to recognise their symptoms and communicate any breathing difficulties to staff.
