Asthma WA – Service Update, Coronavirus (COVID-19)

In light of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, Asthma WA has made some changes to our service provisions to meet the changing needs of people with asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).

We are still here for you between 8.30am and 4.30pm Monday to Friday, but our services will look a little different. In the interest of protecting both our staff and the people we support (many of whom are among the most vulnerable members of the community), we are now providing all of our services over the phone, or by Facetime or other video conferencing platform if requested.

This will not only help reduce the spread of infection, but also increase our capacity to answer any concerns you may have about how COVID-19 could impact on your respiratory health, as well as how to protect yourself and others from infection.

Asthma WA has a free helpline (1800 278 462) operating to answer questions you may have about your asthma and COPD and are continuing to provide free education sessions and support to those who need a bit more information and advice.

We encourage you to take advantage of our FREE services and resources now; especially as things are changing so quickly.

People with asthma and other respiratory issues are no more likely to contract COVID-19 than anyone else in the community, however the severity of their reaction may vary depending on their vulnerability.

It is also extremely important that people with asthma or COPD ensure their condition is well-controlled before the flu season starts, so please contact us if you need any information or support.

To speak to one of our Respiratory Health Educators, call us on 1800 ASTHMA (1800 278 462) or email ask@asthmawa.org.au
