Maintaining strong relationships with health professionals across our vast state is critical to providing holistic support to our consumers. Our Learning and Development Team work collaboratively with leading Respiratory Health Professionals to provide essential upskilling and resources to health professionals including nurses, pharmacists, GP practices and allied health professionals.

Interested health professionals state-wide are kept up-to-date on diverse respiratory health topics ranging from “Bronchiectasis: diagnosis and management,” to “Empowering COPD patients to self-manage,” which is vital to maximising consumer health. At our recent educational webinar in July, we had health professionals from almost every WA region join the session, including Derby and Broome Hospital in the far north, to Plantagenet Medical in the Great Southern, and extending to Bega Garnbirringu Health Service in the Goldfields.

It’s wonderful to see our collaboration partner Silver Chain also attending these sessions as we work together to maximise health outcomes for people with COPD following their discharge from hospital.

We are grateful to the ongoing support of AstraZeneca, Boehringer Ingelheim and Novartis who make this program possible and assist us to expand our reach right across WA.

Shelley Harwood, Respiratory Health Educator, said, “It has been wonderful to see such a variety of health professionals joining us to upskill on these respiratory topics. With the vastness of our state and the challenges that COVID-19 has presented, being able to provide this free webinar series has made our education equitable for all.

As the webinars are held live, the discussions after the presentations and hearing the sharing of experiences and information between the health professionals, has been an amazing added benefit.”
