Match Day Rules

  • ITTF Rules will be followed for general doubles play except scoring will be only for total points scored for and against to determine a percentage. Wins or losses will not determine who will reach the play-off final
  • The team with an earlier ranking according to corporate name in alphabetical order will serve first and the other team can choose ends
  • 15 minutes per round (per match)
  • A maximum of 6 matches can be played at any one time due to venue capacity
  • Approximately 5 minutes has been allocated for Teams to change over between each Round (Matches start promptly every 20 minutes)
  • If you have ‘a let’ at the time of the bell (end of the round ) then it must be played it out
  • An air horn or bell will be used to start and end rounds
  • The top two teams based on aggregated points for and against determined to have the best overall percentage will play off in a 3 set final – first to 11 to win by two.
  • If a team is not ready to play by the start of the next round they will award 5 points to their opponent Team for every 5 minutes (or part there-off) they are late (maximum points accrued will be 15)
  • If a team forfeits – they will receive zero points for that round and the team they are playing will take the score they currently have or accept 15 points. The remaining teams they scheduled will each receive a score of 15 points for and 0 points against or will be scheduled to play another team.
  • Each team will play a minimum of 5 games during the day, but possibly more, depending on how many teams have registered (we will try to schedule a break in between to avoid teams playing consecutive rounds but this cannot be guaranteed)
  • Teams ideally must wear matching corporate polos (best for video highlights) – but if this is too difficult then they can wear an appropriate polo shirt, t-shirt or athleisure wear
  • Players are encouraged to wear coloured clothing (white is not allowed)
  • Joggers or sports shoes with non-marking soles must be worn
  • Event Umpires decision is final
