The inaugural Long Lunch for Asthma was a raging success. On Friday 3 August, more than 750 people joined us to raise funds to improve the lives of more than a million Western Australians living with asthma.

Our guest speaker Keith Munday touched the entire room with the story of his 20-year-old daughter Fallon who tragically lost her life to this ‘quiet condition’ in 2015.

While Fallon’s story is more common than we would hope, the kindness, generosity and support shown at the Long Lunch for Asthma provided a ray of hope – that there will be fewer families grieving the death of a loved one due to asthma, fewer people desperately calling for an ambulance, and fewer people limiting the quality of life they could be living as a result of their asthma.

With the fabulous Kerri-Anne Kennerley as MC, the unforgettable afternoon was spent indulging in a spectacular six-course menu carefully crafted by Crown Towers Executive Chef Sean Marco, and paired with a wonderful selection of WA wines chosen by our wine master John Hanley. The excitement of over 750 colleagues and friends spending an entire afternoon together and a fantastic line-up of entertainment kept the room buzzing and our guests up and grooving on the dance floor, whatever the time of day!

A myriad of prizes, money-can’t-buy experiences and in-kind services were auctioned off by Tim Gossage, showcasing the astounding generosity of the guests and donors alike – and Tim’s talented motor mouth!

Lucky door-prize winner Linda Morgan went home looking more glamorous than ever with a stunning strand of white and gold semi-baroque South Sea cultured pearls, thanks to sponsors Allure South Sea Pearls – it was a fabulous way to celebrate what was her birthday! And Marie Mills with winning raffle ticket 414 (who until recently was still driving a slightly battered 2003 Mazda) ‘drove’ away with a brand new BMW 118 series 1 thanks to Auto Classic and Westcoast BMW!

On the day though, everyone was a winner – and especially Asthma WA and all Western Australians living with asthma.  And for that, we thank everyone who joined us at Crown Towers and contributed to an outstanding success.  Thank you.

Don’t forget to save the date for a repeat performance on Friday 26 July 2019.
